Empowering a Church Through Social Media

A couple weeks ago I shared at Christ Church Kirkland’s Congregational meeting about “Empowering the Church Through the Tools of Social Media.”

The purpose of the meeting was to educate and train the church members about what CCK is doing to expand the message of the Kingdom through using modern tools.

The church is often known for being so behind culture and what is relevant. From music to dress to communication, the church fails in entering the public conversation for lack of knowledge. Understanding the Scriptures in Proverbs where people died for a lack of knowledge and the verses in Isaiah about the importance of understanding the times and knowing what to do, I think it is critical we as the church understand what topics captivate our generation and what the public conversation is. We can be in the world without having to be of the world.

So, for those of you who were not able to attend the Congregational Meeting, the service was live streamed and there was an unedited recording posted on CCK’s Vimeo account here.

I also showed a video on the impact social media is having on our culture today. This video is mind-blowing in the facts it presents. Watch this video below to see how important it is that we understand and use social media effectively.

Some of you have asked for my notes as I often write my notes out in the style I’ll deliver them. Of course, I went more in depth when explaining how CCK plans on using Facebook and Twitter, but at least this will give you an idea.
