Something to Hope For

Adversity comes to us in many ways. We all handle it in different methods too. What I find as the greatest challenge is knowing what to say when a friend is going through something difficult.
Typically we as Christians throw around the word ‘hope’ in cliche ways. We says things like “I hope you feel better” or “I hope you get through this,” but what really does hope mean? If Paul said that hope was one of the three keys for life, then why don’t we use that key to unlock the door to freedom?
When King David was running for his life and had to hide in caves so that Saul would not find him, he battled great adversity that very few of us have gone through. Instead of complaining to God about his situation or taking revenge against Saul, even though he had multiple opportunities, he chose to put his hope in God. In Psalms 42:5, 11, and 43:5, David says, “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
David’s hope became a weapon to fight through his misfortune. When life cut David, he bled worship, not bitterness. So if you are going through something right now, choose hope. Hope has the power to give you God’s perspective for your situation. It will not abandon you because God is hope and God promises that He will never leave us or forsake. us. George Weinberg said it best, “Hope never abandons you; you abandon it.”
I found this video by a band called, The Undeserving. I must admit I don’t know much about this band, but I felt their video was very encouraging and I hope it speaks to you too. This is “Something to Hope For:”
