Finding Clarity

Last week I wrote a blog titled “In the Midst of Chaos” that at the time I felt had no direct reflection as to where I was at. In fact, I actually started writing a different blog article but decided to change it as I felt God leading me elsewhere. It was encouraging to hear from others how that blog post was helping them where they were at and in what God was doing in them. Little did I know that God was preparing me for what would go on today.

Tonight I find myself rereading my own work and asking God those same questions. When it rains, it pours and today the skies broke and it continues to fall down. But my disposition cannot be one of accusation or defense. My strength in life is that I belong to Jesus Christ and He can be the only thing I live for. So when accusation comes or something is stripped away, I will fight to find His purpose and be changed in the midst of chaos.

Even Now by United Pursuit Band is a song that I have had on repeat all night.
These are the lyrics to the song:

It doesn’t always work like I’ve planned it
I’ve seen a lot of good things, a lot of things been out of my hands
Even when I don’t understand it
We have all got choices to make
And this one is mine

Even now, here’s my heart God

Seems like all You do is so hidden
Sometimes I’m led to wonder are You working at all?
But even in the darkness I’m listening
For Your still small voice in the distance I hear You call

Even now here’s my heart God
I’m in love

Running out of reasons to doubt You
Can’t live another day here without You

Even now here’s my heart God
I’m in love

Your love is sweeter than honey
Your love is stronger than death
Your love lifts me off my burdens
And teaches me to dance

That will be my declaration. In the midst of confusion, Your love brings clarity.  Francis Fenelon writes in his book The Seeking Heart, “Offer Him your tangled mess and He will turn everything toward His own merciful purpose. You must learn to let go of everything whether God ever gives you what you desire or not. The most important thing is to go back to communion with God–even if it seems dry and you are easily distracted” (pg 88).

I swear Fenelon wrote every page of that book for me. And his advice is exactly what I will do. Here’s my tangled mess, God. Have at it! Communion with You is the only place I find clarity.
